Taking the neighboring Mandasa Mandal as the base, the hospital has adopted a group of 225 villages having a population of about 2.00 lakhs. Screening was done on a door to door basis and over 12,000 persons were found to be having different forms of eye problems which are curable.

Every week, screening camps are conducted and the patients selected for surgery are picked up in the Hospital Van and brought to the hospital for surgery. These patients are provided with free food and medicines.

Now we started the Help Me See Program in the Mandals of Kaviti and Ichapuram and we are selecting Cataract cases and taking them to hospital for surgery.

Objectives:-

• To improve eye health seeking behavior of the target area population
• To strengthen primary health services
• To integrate primary eye care services with primary health care services
• To develop linkages with other sectors of development
